About Baraka Children's Home Mombasa

Baraka Children's Home supports orphans, destitute, abused and abandoned children in collaboration with the District Children's office and the community. We provide children with basic needs such as food, shelter, medicine, clothing, parental and spiritual guidance, love and excellent education opportunities. We also strive to ensure their childhood's dignity is enjoyable and protected.

Background of Baraka Children Home Mombasa

The home was started in January 2003; we kicked off in a Two-bedroom rented house due to the needy plight of the Children. We relocated to our new residence in Nguu-Tatu in January 2007.

We are currently housing 35 Boys and Girls, between ages 3-18 years. All children either attend School or Technical Training. In 2006 we constructed a two bedroom house, this being first phase of implementing our plans to provide children with suitable accommodation without the burden of Monthly rents. Baraka Children's home is now located at Nguu Tatu along Mwakirunge Road.

This home was started as women's self help group in October 2002, situated at Bamburi, Kidarajani. We have six members and it was proposed to start the home for orphans after encountering and observing several cases of mistreated and abandoned HIV/AIDS orphans within the community. The vulnerable status of these orphans forced most of these children to live in streets begging for food and money; this had exposed the children to worse dangers.
