INTRODUCTION
Baraka Children’s home cares and supports
HIV/AIDS Orphans both affected and infected.
We provide Children with basic needs for a
better life such as Food, Shelter, Medicine,
Clothing, Education and both Parental guidance
and Spiritual guidance. We strive to ensure
all Children live a normal life with improved
quality.
We are currently housing
34 children (16 girls and 18 boys) under our care aged between
3-18 years, and all children either attend School
or Technical Training. In 2006 we constructed
a two bedroom house, this being first phase
of implementing our plans to provide children
with suitable accommodation without the burden
of Monthly rents. Baraka Children’s
home is now located at Nguu Tatu along Mwakirunge
Road.
BACKGROUND
OF THE HOME
This home was started as women’s self
help group in October 2002, situated at Bamburi,
Kidarajani. We have six members and it was
proposed to start the home for orphans after
encountering and observing several cases of
mistreated and abandoned HIV/AIDS orphans
within the community. The vulnerable status
of these orphans forced most of these children
to live in streets begging for food and money,
this had exposed the children to worse dangers. |

The home was started in January
2003; we kicked off in a Two-bedroom rented
house due to the needy plight of the Children.
We relocated to our new residence in Nguu-Tatu
in January 2007.
With the goodwill we have earned from our
sponsors and well-wishers, we have no doubt
that we will achieve the objectives for which
Baraka Children's Home was set-up.
A GIFT OF MUSIC
TO BARAKA
Todd Thurier from Canada
The
children at Baraka Children's Home recently
received a gift that was literally music
to their ears! Mr. Todd Thurier, from Canada,
sent us an assortment of musical instruments
that have transformed the lives of the children.
We are now looking for a volunteer music
teacher. Click here
to apply and train the children on how to
use these new instruments.
